importance of needle bearing assembly lubricant

Hi, I have recently replaced the oil seals at the base of my water pump in my mercury 60hp. I am just wondring do i strictly have to use needle bearing lubricant as i dont have any. Is it possible to use normal grease or some other substitute or i am i best to wait and get the quiksilver needle bearing assembly lubricant

Hi,

If your talking about putting some grease on the shaft or seal so it does not tear when going down the shaft most anything will work. Less is better.
