I've been using BRP fuel conditioner as a gas preservative (1 oz./2 gal.) for a 2005 175HP.. Last trip out was a disaster, carb flooded, etc. Motor is in the shop getting the carbs rebuilt now. Boat sits in the Florida sun all day so it's probably a given the carb bowls are evaporating dry in a few days. I was also putting a cuff on and restarting it once a month which maybey just made things worse.
1. How bad an idea would it be to convert it to pre-mix and run it totally out of gas for these 2 - 3 month long intervals? Seems like if the gas is evaporating out anyway in a few days at least maybe it would eliminate some of the residue buildup
2. Would Stabil be a better preservative than the BRP fuel conditioner?
