I have a pair of 1995 Johnson 150s with the composite Carburetors. Noticed 1 started burning more gas than the other ( 10 %). Looked in the carbs and 1 showed gas buildup when pumping the bulb. Installed a kit and the problem remained. After careful inspection noticed hairline crack in the upper carb body leading up from the fuel inlet hole. Changed out and cured the problem. Couple months later developed a sneeze / miss. Isolated to #2 cylinder. Same thing cracked carb in almost the same place leaning out at idle. Found a used one at a dealer and noticed it was also cracked in a similar manner. Has anyone else noticed this issue?

Cracking could well be an "age related" issue of the components. Buying used could be a bad idea as said. New would be the best idea if it were me.

Over tightening screws will stress the nylon, carb bowls do that too.

Good thoughts. I've been very careful with proper tourque on these plastic pieces. The first part I replaced new +- 4 months ago. Attempted to purchase another from the dealer and was informed it was no longer available. I found a new one in dealer inventory at Stone & sons in Houston. Looks like its getting harder to get parts for these motors. Good motors about 650 hours on each.
