I just bought a 1988 Bayliner Capri 2.3 Liter SOHC, with an OMC Cobra motor, model# 985267. When I try to start the boat, it will turn over but it won't start. The guy I bought it from said that the points needed replacing. Could that be the problem or did I get duped??
If anyone has any suggestions as to what the problem could be please let me know.

Thanks,
Gene

Try unhooking the coil and turning the key on and see if the wires are heating up,it could be the coil shorting. If not the coil work your way back from there,a good multimeter will help.
