I have a evinrude 1980 4hp which I need to put back the spiral spring which pull back the starter rope. The spring jumped out when we where changing the rope but i cant get it back, which way of the spring goes first and so on....?

I would reommend you get yourself an OMC service manual. Spring replacement and a multitude of other procedures are covered in the manual. For the most part, you feed the spring into the back of the retainer cup and wind it in with the flywheel. You need to engage the rewind gear with the flywheel while your turning the flywheel.
