Hi, new here.

Ok, I went out today and started my Mercury, it is a pull start(don't know boating term) and when I placed the throttle to "Start" and pulled the cord it revved up very slow, normally it revs very high, then I turn it to idle. Well I let it idle for a minute and it was running bad. The motor didn't sound the same and over all it just sounded like it wasn't running at full capacity.

I left the dock in hopes it would kick in, it did that once. Well at full throttle I was traveling at approx. 3-5 mph, when I normally go a lot faster. The motor shook a lot more than normal and it just wasn't running good. I tried to stop and start and once it worked but when I stopped later it ran like crap again.

Any ideas what would cause this? Normally this motor gives me a little trouble (just replaced impeller) but this was ridiculous. Could a cylinder or spark plug be to blame?

When this happened 1 month ago i took it to a certified Merc. dealer and a whole whopping $135 later he said it ran fine for him, could not locate problem.

Thanks
