Motor came with some mismatched plugs. One was a Champion L78V and the other was an NGKBP6HS. This was an old motor that has not been on the air in many years, so I am guessing the plugs were just stuck in there at some time to keep air out of the cylinders. There is no ID plate on the motor so I don't know the exact year, but I am guessing 70-75.

Here is a pic of the motor. Someone might be able to give me a better guess on the year of manufacture.

Will the L78V work in this motor. Some call for the L77V.
What is the difference in the 77V and 78V?

your motor does not have electronic ignition, you have points, thereby it is a 1973 or older

plugs:

NGK - BUHW-2

these are the perma gapped plugs recommended for your motor

now what does the hood look liek on your engine, thats how you can distinguish the year... what colour are the stripes? how does it say kiekhaefer on the front of the hood? in big letters with mercury below it? or does it say it above mercury in small letters and mercury is in big letters?
