Hello all,
my first time posting... I own a 1990 17' Regal with a 3.0L Alpha one (115or135)not sure horsepower. I have some gearlube leaking from under the outdrive hinge. When I put the trim all the way up and look under the lower unit close to the hull there is a 1" black hose that seems to be severly cracked and leaking. Anyone know how big a job this is?
Thanks

Post a pic if you can, but it sounds like it is the water supply hose that goes from the bell housing to the gimbal housing....
If that is cracked, most likely the other rubber parts need replacing as well....
I suggest you go to the 'adults only' section & download manual #6, for a view of what needs to be done....
There are other things that should be replaced at this time while you are that far into it, ie bellows, shift cable......
The cause of the leaking drive oil will be found by pressure testing the drive ....
That procedure is outlined in the 'adults only' section at the top of this page as well.....
Since you have a '91, you need to ID your drive as a gen 1 or 2, by the serial #, as they changed around that time...
Either way, the manual is there.....
Welcome to iboats btw.....:)
