hey guys replaced the complete water pump on my 2003 mercury 15 and there seems to be about a 1/16th of an inch gap between the seal and the drive shaft would this have an impact on the water pump's ability to pump? because we are not getting any water up to the engine. Water path clear from thermostat down water tube.

This all started when we put the water tube guide on backwards and killed the pump completely. Any advice appreciated.

hey guys problem solved it was just the water tube guide hadn't quite lined up properly with the water tube
