evinrude gear problems

hi can any one help me?
i am having trouble with an evinrude outboard 10hp worktwin it wont go into gear it could just be me not knowing how it works but its been stood for about a year and i have just got it running and cant seem to move the gear shifter.

Does the shift lever move properly but it just doesn't engage, or does the shift lever not move at all?

running or not running. not running you have to turn the prop a little in order for the gears to line up.

the lever does not move at all jammed but in neutral as it will start and run i tried to turn the prop and fly wheel to help engage the gears but nothing.
heeeeeeelp me.

Drain the lube. If it's empty, or water, you'll have to go in and make things move again. I've fixed some that were stuck like that..

Yup, time to remove the lower unit and open up the gearcase.
