92 Yamaha 4.3L Over Heating

I have a 4.3L inboard with a Yamaha conversion. The engine over heated so replaced the impeller in the deep sea water pump, the old one was worn out. Now I can't get water to circlate through the pump up into the engine. Any ideas would be helpfull.?? Thanks

Ayuh,... Backflush it,... Probably plugged with debris from the old 1...

I flushed out the suction line, and found it was clear. I put dish soap in the pump when I put the new impeller in and all I get is a little bit of soap foam on the discharge side of the pump. It seems like we are sucking air on the suction hose??
