We will get you counselling Hey the boat is looking great. I know your hole repair will hold up fine.... Just hit those with gluvit. I have a even bigger repair on the back of my SS .... I had about 25 holes to fill.
Green over white..... look at Andy in NY 's boat. His is painted green over white.

Thanks for understanding Bob, May need rehab. Andy's boat is close to what I'm thinking just not green down the side only on top. On the transom I used rivets with JB weld to seal and then I will fill the holes on the outside with JB as well. That is if I get up from this computer and get to work

The insanity continues... A few more pics from the Nassau fun and games department. The paint was pitted on the bow so Steve said "need to strip this paint off and start fresh. This boat has two coats of very well applied paint, one from the factory (hunter green) and one from a paint shop,(avacado) with primer between. I have been stripping the bow for two days now (last Sat. and today Friday) WOW! here ya go...A glimmer of aluminum, After all this work would'nt it be cool to leave it shiney? I know, I would have to close my eyes to drive her, It would still be cool
So tomorrow the windshield comes off and more fun!

What kind of paint and method are you going to use? I'm going to do the same thing this eary spring..a green top and all white sides and bottoms..i'm gonna watch this thread carefully
Right now my plan is to ZC the bare metal on top and prime over top, Then sand the sides (they are in great shape) but I have not decided on the finish coat. I have used easypoxy in the past with great results but several guys in here have used rustoleum with good results as well. Because of $$$ it will be cheapest but best I will keep y'all posted, Steven

I'm going with Easypoxy on mine. Originally it was just because they have the colors I want and Rustoleum doesn't but in further reading about it...it sounds like great paint.
sadly I have a quart of easypoxie left over from my old Renken but dark blue is not in this boats future. I only used enough on that boat to do 1 stripe on the side, the rest of the boat was white. oh well

Steve looks like some good progress there I was glad to see you say you were getting ready to pull the windshield since they are getting harder to find and I could just see a scraper or some stripper getting onto it .

The windshield has been removed with the help of 13yo (had to get him off his computer)
Well, after a long day stripping and sanding it's time to sit down with a cup of coffee and post some pics. I've got one broken windshield clamp if anyone has a spare. (will post pic of that later)(looking for some vinyl for bottom too)
not as shiney after sanding
took a few minutes to paint up a small sample (rustoleum hunter green)
got a big thumbs up from SWMBO on top side paint color more to come

in the pics of your new deck, i couldnt help but wonder: are you putting in a bilge pump? it doesnt look like there would be enough room to get one in there...
After all the paint threads.....I think the key is that you buff it out. I painted my Nassau with Easypoxy and then buffed it out with two levels of grit - looked perfect.

Captmills if your planning to make that a top color be fore warned it will be hot very HOT just a minute or two after the sun hits it. Just remember it is metal and it will burn.
I'm torn between the original color and going to a hunter green top W/white bottom(wife's choice)and hunter on the motor with white/green int. It would be easier to go back with the original color. The jury's still out.
Leave it the original color. I remember that boat in 1965.
Andy, yes, I'm going to squeeze in a bilge pump. It will be a small one but I figure any is better than none. Now JimCB and CaptChris has me second guessing the Hunter green

Jim, ya got the wheels turning. I am not commited yet...but should be I'm going to see if I can find the color (It would be easier to paint) and be in keeping with "restore" sorta originally was a darker green as you know. Also, truth be known if I could get real close on the match I wouldn't really have to paint the sides, just the top and transom

Things have been a little slow around the old plantation, went to Charleston, SC last weekend for a reenactment and hung around for a few days to sightsee a bit. Hope to get a little work done this weekend (the Nassau is feeling neglected) Getting over (i hope) a little touch of broncitis, coughing up a lung. Hope to catch y'all in a chat soon

Seeing as though I was not feeling up to sanding today and it was to wet to plow and to windy to stack BB's I decided to do a little upholstery work on the side panels...
Starting with how they came out of the boat
Then the original vinyl
And after pulling out several hundred copper staples and upholstery tacks
The wood is a little dark but still in good shape (Oh, and I did check to make sure that the panel would fit in the boat with the new deck and a scrap of the flooring, Another fine tip from the folks at Starcraft forum)
and then...
