Is it normal to have the fuel gauge only work if the navigation light switch is on? Or do I have a problem with my gauge?

Re: fuel gauge question

I would look under your console and see whats up and how it is wired, It wouldn't be normal for my boat if it did that, Normal for me would be as soon as I turn on my key then the gauges kicks on. Doesn't sound like something is right, check your wiring.

Re: fuel gauge question

The "I" (ignition) terminal on all gauges (except the speedo) is normally connected to the "A" (accessory) terminal on the ignition switch so the gauges are active when the key is turned on. That terminal on your gauge is apparently jumpered to the "L" (light) terminal on the gauge and therefore is active only when the NAV lights are on.
