I have read the many posts concerning this and decided to do it on a recently purchased Starcraft 16 SFM w/ Johnson 60 VRO2 (1988). I decided to go with disableing the VRO because I have no problem mixing the fuel myself and its one less thing to worry about. I was suprised to see that attached to the oil inlet on the pump was a yellow "plug" that I assume is there to be used to disable the VRO. I unplugged the harness that is connected to the VRO and also the wires connected to the oil tank. Emptied out the fuel tank, dumped a gallon of premix and flushed it out just to be sure that the engine is recieving mix on first startup. The yellow plug suprised me sort of, I mean the manufacturer foresaw that many people disconnecting the VRO that they supplied a plug?
I hope I'm ready to take her out for the "maiden" voyage now.
