Old minn-kota wiring

On 3 wire 12/24 minn-kota I have red,black and white. I am wiring 12 volt 2 wire What hooks to what, which do I leave unhooked?

Never mind, got the ohms meter out and figured it out.

Please share what you found out.I have a minn kota mag 40 and i am trying to figure the same thing out.Which wires to use for just 12 volt?Thanks.
