Dropped Trim

Greetings, I own a Regal 1900LSR which I bought in 2006. 4.3L GXI Volvo Penta Stern Drive.

My question is in regards to the Trim. I examined my trailered and garaged boat recently to discover that the trim was all the way lowered and that the skeg was touching the concrete floor.
I lowered the trailer wheel to raise the skeg and clear the floor. The next day the skeg was touching the floor again. I am concerned that the hydraulics failed some where.
I have not moved or attempted to energize the trim yet, before I conclude that there is a possible problem or that something is faulty.

Ayuh,.... No Doubt,... Welcome Aboard,....

A puddle of Oil will indicate an External leak,...
It could be an Internal leak in the pump, Or in the rams....
The rams are rebuildable,+ the pump is easily replaced...

2006 was a cross over year to Volvo's new drive. If it's a late model year 2006 or early 2007. The trim motor is mounted to the transom plate. These early production units used a plastic ball in the check value and they can leak down. Volvo now uses a steel ball bearing in the check value that is much better. Your dealer should be able to get Volvo to warranty this repair.

If you have the older style drive, the trim motor is located in the engine compartment on the starboard side of the boat. The leak down can because by bad values, check value, or leaks in one of the lines. Since it seems to leak down slowly, it probably not a leak in a line.
