I have a Perko all around nav light with two festoon end 10W bulbs. One of the bulbs is always going out. It is annoying and expensive.

Any ideas? I looked it up and I have the proper wattage of bulb.

LED alternative ? Less power consumption and no filament=Longer life.

Have you checked the electrical system voltage at wide open throttle? An improperly regulated charging system can pop virtually any electrical item. But it that's the only bulb going bad, that says its a vibration or lamp problem, not electrical. Have you tested them to make sure they are actually blown? Use your battery charger.

Check to make sure the bulb is tight in the fixture, I had a bulb that was bit loose that would blow out anytime I hit rough water at night. Also check that all the electrical connections are tight so that the bulb isn't flickering in chop. Both conditions will cause a short bulb life. Also possible, but not likely, is that the bulbs are wired in series instead of parallel, which could be putting a higher load on the first bulb in the series. Not sure this will cause this, but anything is possible.
