I have a 1987 Bayliner Capri, 3.0L OMC with a Cobra outdrive.
Recently, it has developed a problem. I will be running and the engine will just cut out (rpm pretty much 0), but as quickly as it quit it will catch back up and resume normal operation with no operator input. Just enough to let the bow drop and slow a little.
I replaced the inline fuel filter, checked the fuel pump filter (clean), and cleaned the carb. It now runs better, but this had no effect on original problem.
Took it out today to further diagnose the problem. It happens more fequently when pulling a kneeboarder or skiier. It rarely, but occasionally, happens when running wide open with no skiier.
