Not sure if anyone can help me........I have a 1994 VIP FX-180 with a 115 Yamaha. This boat got flooded (not the engine thankfully) and since then the electric trim does not work. I can hear the solinoid "clicking" when I push the down trim button but nothing when I push the up trim on the throttle handle. I have a maintainance book that says there is a quick release plug for the 3 wires coming out of the switch but cannot find this to test the switch as per the shop manual. I plead poverty and want to try and fix this myself before I have to take it to someone and spend money I don't have ! I figure it's this switch, which got wet.......any input would be much appreciated.....thank you !
the electric transfer switch has probably gone bad, I just replaced one for a friend with a 94 -90 hp, from what I hear, that's not unusual for Yamahas of that era.
You can check to see if you are getting voltage to the solenoid at the connection on the solenoid itself with a voltmeter.
Check your connections and grounds at solenoid and then look for problems in switch or wiring and other connectors.
