Thats called Sea Power 101. A fact of the global power environment a long as ships have existed. I suspect nearly half the voting/polling population are against the US maintaning Sea power since we are the king of the hill.

since when has the somali's been an enemy? they have had no govt for about 20 years. some warlords are friendly with the US and some are not, we just have no cared much cause they have nothing to offer the US.
however now that some somalis are turning to piracy in international as well as national waters we can aid.
while our military seapower is unrivalled seems our civilian seapower has basically ceased to exist.
overseas stuff ships cheaper and faster I guess.

If they want the US to rebuild them, they have to declare war on us first. Then we go in, kick em in the balls, and rebuild them stronger than before.

If all those little no-nothing countries ever figured that one out, they'd all be living the high life in a few years. :D

The US Navy has recently started the patrolling the Somali coastline,in order to prevent piracy. It sounds like the Somali government in a desperate effort to act as if they have anything to say in the matter at all, have "granted" permission to the navy to enter the Somali territorial waters.

good training for our boys ,
good way to stay sharp ,when we werent on patrol we started to feel
not so sharp but that was infantry ,not sea base
plus our military is alot sharper than most people know
hope in the future we dont cut back we need to be stronger and the only way is in the field ,in real time action,
