Have you had a chance to review my results for the prop you recommended?

Spoke to a couple of prop shops today, they said no more than an inch of pitch on a aluminum prop, if it was stainless steel they could go two, they said aluminum can't handle the pressure? Do they know what they're talking about or should I keep shopping? Maybe they both use the same guy, who knows. Only the shadow (hwsiii) knows.

Does that prop have cup on the trailing edge of the prop.

OK, have them take out what they can of the pitch, without taking any of the cup out of the trailing edge. One inch will have to work after the bottom gets cleaned we should be able to get about 4,300 RPM out of it then.

OK, I'll drop it off with those instructions. I'll update you when we get it back and install it with the clean bottom. Thanks, Dave

Re: hwsiii, you out there?

Just got a call back from the prop shop and they said they could not re-pitch this prop because it's blades are way to thick? I guess it's time to punt. Add another to my collection of props. Any other thoughts? Dave

OK, in the meantime I'm putting the factory 15 1/2 x 13 Aluminum (391536) on the boat, it's not great, but I have never had it on the boat. At least maybe I can get a baseline. Thanks, Dave

Re: hwsiii, you out there?

Well, it seems like nature and electronics are lined up against me these past couple weeks. Got the bottom cleaned and mounted the original equipment prop 391536, 15 1/2 x 13. Then last weekend Hurrican Bill churned things up pretty good.

Got out Tuesday in hopes of getting some numbers for you and the darned GPS wouldn't work. Figured it out and ordered a new antennal (under warranty, so that will probably take a while).

Now this weekend anothere Hurricane is set to come up the coast and churn it up some more.

Anyway with that prop the WOT jumped to 4600rpms. Although I'd say the speed was about the same. It got on plane faster than the Apollo 14 3/8 x 15 SS Did. Top speed for the Apollo was about the same only at 4200rpms and it struggled to get on plane.

I just wish they made a 4 blade that would work with my boat, because it planed and handled so much nicer.

Last time you posted you said you were checking something out, any luck?

If I have to settle for a 15 1/2 x 13 is there a particular one that lifts the stern better?
