I have a tilt/trim unit from a 1996 Mercury Force 40hp. What is the correct way to check the oil level?
A so called Mercury mechanic told me you have to raise the motor up then check the oil and add to full. But if I do that won't the oil run out when I let it back down with the plug out or if I put the plug back in I don't think it will come down.
What is the correct way to check and add oil, with the rod extended or retracted?
