Hi,
I don't remember what it is called but it stops your motor from ending up in the boat with you if you hit something. You have hit something hard enough to break metal things before that could happen. Like the hydrolic cyl mounting brackets. I have seen one break but not both of them. They break where the 5/8 bolt goes though to mount the top of the trim ram.
