Hi, been working on a 70 hp chrysler outboard 3 cylinder ( not sure on year). had it running last week, took out to lake and ran for about 15 minutes. the quit. Checked plugs and spark ok, checked all wiring and appears fine, Removed bowls from carbs and found that floats are ok,no fuel from bowls going through the carbs and into cylinders, wondering if something could be plugged from fuel gumming? doesn't seem to draw the fuel into carb when cranking to start,was going to try misting fuel in with spray bottle any other suggestions?Thanks

I am no expert, but I would pull the line from the fuel pump to the carb and see if fuel is pumping to the carb. Watch out because it may be under pressure and spray out. Have a rag against it when taking the hose off as much as possible and have eye protection. Yes, I think the carb could be gummed up. I had this happen to my 5.5. I bet it will fire with a spray of gas in the throttle body intake. I also have had the fuel pump go on my snowmobile with similar symptoms. If fuel pumps fuel out of the hose between the pump and carb I would rebuild the carb. Also wait for more comments. I am only a home mech with no experience with your motor.

Just to add seeing it quit all of the sudden it may be the fuel pump. Same thing check and see if there is fuel pumping out of it. The diaphragm can stretch to the point where it will not pump fuel. You can get rebuild kits for like $8? They are really easy to change and are a time compliance part. You just have to be careful with breaking the bolts lose. Turn them just a tiny bit back and forth before turning out, and if they get tighter turn them back in then back out again. Put them back in with anti seize. It's just like changing a gasket.
