175 hp v6 model/serial number

I have a what I believe is a early 1980's 175 hp johnson. I cant find the serial/model number tag on it anywhere! Any help to where it is? Thanks, Nick

Look on the port side mounting bracket ... if plate is damaged or gone, look for freeze plug on aft top of powerhead. Number will be stamped there also.

Thanks, Im pretty sure the tag was gone, but it was on the freeze plug! Thanks for your help
