I have an omc stringer w/ chevy 5.7 liter w/ 300 hrs. It needs a shift cable. In working order the boat maybe worth 2500 $ . Am I better off parting it out ?
whats the engine worth or the drive ? thanks

It depends on how good you are at selling the old stuff left over.....

I pulled an OMC 460 King Cobra out of my boat a few years ago and sold ALL the "stuff"

Total I got a little over $3000 for it all!! (selling it separately of course)

I sold some of it on ebay, locally and other means etc...It was a total pain in the ah$$. but maybe worth $3000....

Your mileage may vary...

All depends on how clean the engine and drive are. The drive will bring less money sans a good shift cable so you may need to fix it anyway.

Are we talking the cable form the control box or to the drive?

Control box cable - easy, drive cable - drive tear down.
