Hello,
I have a 2003 Mercruiser 5.0 alpha one 75 hr. I took it out for the first time this year over a month ago all was fine till like an hour in, then the RPM's would never stay constant. They would rev up and down aroung 500 RPM's reguardless of throttle. I took her home and Replaced fuel fileter water seperator, all new gas, and still the same problem. I took her out a second time simmilar problem, but now engine will not run at low RPM's at all. Throttle must be very high to get engine started and must stay hi to keep it running.
What should I next to help solve this problem. Does it sound like ignition or carb?
Thanks Joe C
