Re: steering cable are the same on all models?

I have a similar issue. I'm changing from a Chrysler to a Mercury. Haven't found an appropriate adapter of any type to make the steering connection work. I don't want to replace a good functioning steering system already in the boat, so I think a little fabrication is in order to connect the Chrysler steering cable, to my Mercury outboard. Please let us know if you come across something.

if you have the rod that goes thru the tilt tube, they are all indentical. . it is the steering link that goes from the end of the rod to the motor that is specific to the motor.
