I have a 92 40 HP Johson TL. Won't Idle and No Power under load more than 3200 RPM. Rebuilt Carbs with kits. Inspected Fuel. Did Link/Synk. Replaced Coil. I gave up. Took it to repair guy, he says my magnets under flywheel are messed up. Need new flywheel for $ 350.00. Does this sound logical or am I getting good info?
Thanks

Re: Magnets under flywheel

BRP has magnet kits (inexpensive) ... unless where they seat is trashed.

easily fixed, take off fly, remove magnets, clean the magnets with bench grinder brush-to get all old glue off, get fly wheel cleaned of fsand blasting is the best way, get magnet epoxy, glua magnets back on spacing with 7/16 bolts or space according to engine specs. let sit 24 hrs reinstall and done

junior has it right. that is how i fixed mine and it hasn't had a problem yet. i used JB weld instead of magnet epoxy though.
