We found this forum and thank all of you for the info we have already learned!

The Evinrude on our pontoon began stalling a few weeks ago. It could be at any rpm but was more common at low speeds. It felt like it was out of gas. We would need to pump up the ball and it would run again. It seemed to run fine, although the rpms seemed higher than usual, but could be the tach since it jumped with no apparant change to engine speed.
In steps, I replaced the fuel lines, fuel filter, and spark plugs and cleaned the vent lines. Now the problem is worse.
Last weekend the Check Engine and/or No Oil warning lights and chimes came on prior to some of the stalls and the engine smoked and seems to be leaking fuel when it stalls. The problems are getting worse.
Does anyone have any "where to next" recommendations prior to hiring a mechanic?
I appreciate any help that anyone can offer.

did you check the crankcase oil level? have you checked compression to see if you did any damage.

Thanks for the response.
Oil level is fine (and is changed every fall).
I do not have a gage to check compression...therefore may need to call a mechanic unless there are other things for me to look at prior to spending a lot of money. Any other recommendations?
Each of the three or four times a warning light came on the engine was turned off immediately so am really hoping that we did not damage it.
