A guy i know has one for sale(w/controls and all wiring). It's a SUPER clean original ran in fresh water only.He bought from an old man who said it always performed great. He wants to do a compression test and have it running before i buy it.(he's hevy into boats)Are these GOOD engines???I read about many problems, but i've also been told the owners neglect may have caused most of them.I just want to know the true facts about them, and a rough value of one in this condition???Any help/advice would be great,as it's 5 minutes from my house!

unless it is really cheap, it would keep looking. they were great motors, but have hydro-electric shift lower units, which parts are no longer available. it could last a week or 15 years.

I can get everything for $300-$350-???The boat is a "64,so this is the newest era motor i'd put on it.
