1978 Evinrude 70 exhaust gasket

I just took off my exhaust manifold to replace the gaskets(I had moister getting into the #3 cylinder). I was pretty happy when I saw that I was right about the gaskets being broke. Amazingly the old part number is still on the gasket(317227) I noticed that the gasket that replaces this part is 331917. I noticed that there are some differences in the the way the holes are cut in this replacement gasket. The holes are bigger and some of the webbing is not there where it contacts the exhaust manifold.

My question is, will this gasket be as durable as the original part? It just seems flimsier. Or is the newer gasket actually a better application? Any thing I should know about putting this back together to ensure that it will last a good long time?
