Well if you want to keep the need brain to use control box for the pristine vintage look your going to have to do some digging. I think the 63 came with a single lever box but you can use the dual lever box. We had bought out a marine distributor that had a few hundred control cables with no ends on them. We used these cables and added the nylon ends along with the brass ends they ride over. The brass ends (some were SS ) screw out of the cable body. You will need to search out a cable with the same thread and diameter brass ends on them. Then you can swap out the parts and make it work.
Other than that you can do a net search for used outboard parts. Some of these salvage yards may still have some hanging around. twincityoutboard, aomci, oldmercs, are some of many out there.The gear ends are real hard to find these days so be careful with them.
You can put some life back into the cables by taking off the engine end and pulling the core wire out. Make sure the screws did not crimp the core wire because it will not come out or go back in if they are bent. Once out flush the internal part of the cable with some penetrating oil. When it comes out fairly clean use a heavier oil to lube it with and push the core wire back into the cable coating the cable as it goes in. It will push out the end harder because of the oring between the main cable body and the screwed in bass end. Once out, put the engine ends back on and your done.
