Default Just another Speed question

Alright so im not really new to wakeboarding, before i had a boat i took every opportunity to go out with friends, i've always loved it but it seems that every boat/prop/person has their wakeboard speed. One guy i used to wakeboard with had a 94 regal 17' boat with a 4.3 not sure of his prop but he would pull me at about 17 or 18 and i could NEVER clear the wake it was just to wide we tried everything...except going faster cuz he refused.
I then bought a boat last summer an old Glastron V156 tri hull with a 75hp outboard. This boat worked fine with a coulple people in the boat and we would wakeboard around 19mph without every having the boat fall off plane or anything and we could clear the wake no problem...but a 3 inch wake got real old real fast. So this summer i bought my 1998 Fourwinns 18.5 with the OMC 5.7 i have 3 props a 19X14.25 aluminum 21X14.5 aluminum and 23X14.5SS they are all 3 blade I've tried various things, hydofoil..worked ok and now SX smart tabs. The on plane speed definitely went down but the wake is really wide and soft...impossible to clear. It just seems that no matter what i do 20-22mph with my boat is the perfect speed/wake/ everything for wakeboarding but it just feels fast i dont know maybe i just need to get used to it. But one thing i found kind odd was that with my 21" the wake was soft and really wide plus if i carved out really hard the boat would fall off plane but then when i had my 23" just a little bit faster made the perfect wake and no matter how hard i pulled it would not pull the boat off of plane and im not a huge person (200lbs)
The other main issue is since im normally the driver i know what to look for to keep a good wake but with my wife or friends driving the have a really hard time because my boat is fuel injected and the throttle doesnt do exactly what you want it to do instantly it has a delay so it seems like im either going WAAYY to fast and the wake is disappering from underneath me or im barely moving...I know this is long but any words of widsom??
thanks
