Mercruiser 4.3 V6 1992 Intermittant

Hi,
I have a mercruiser4.3 V6 1992, which will run fine at times and other times will only run on one bank of three cylinders. Even when on three cylinders, the three not running are still getting a good spark. All six cylinders have compression of 145 to150. Anybody got any ideas.

how do you know that it is running intermittantly on one bank of cylinders AND those cylinders are getting spark at that time?

Carburated engine with standard ignition (ie point, coil)? When is the last time it was tuned up? Any recent work on the engine? Is this a new problem?

Ayuh,... My WAGuess is a really boogered up Carb...

When it is on three cylinders and you remove the HT leads from the 3 cylinders not running, the engine note does not change and you can see the HT leads are still sparking. Nigel.
