I have a 96 Johnson 112spl which produces unregulated voltage.
My new NMEA 2000 Lorance Fluid Level Sensor, is apparently very sensitive to this fluctuating voltage, so only works intermittently. Is there some kind of voltage regulator available that I could put in-line to the connection to the network power to resolve this?

Re: voltage regulator

Yes. There are many small solid state regulators available.. You need to know how much current the unit draws. Then go to Radio Shack and ask them to help you select the right regulator. Theses are 3 pin devices in - out - ground. Very easy to wire.

Re: voltage regulator

I have an 86 Johnson 90HP with unregulated charging, that is because some came with regulated and some did not, I was able to look up the models with regulated charging, (power T&T), and just ordered the rectifier/regulator that came with it. I was concerned about a new GPS unit I have being damaged. You should be able to do the same.
