looking for a trick that will get the stud out of my cylinder block. it is not broken or coroded. I put two nuts on it and lock them together then tried to turn it out but the two nuts are turning together and the stud stays put.

Any ideas? dont want to put heat there, affaid to dammage it.

Re: stud removal

How about using a pipe wrench on the stud? You will not be able to reuse it, if you mess up the threads.

Re: stud removal

You can purchase a stud remover. It is a socket looking tool that fits over the stud and tightens down on the stud as you turn counterclockwise. It will only do minimal damage to the threads (unless you really torque it) and then you can run a die down to repair the threads.
