Just wondering if putting the whale fins on my boat will affect the wake behind my boat . Im considering putting them on to help get up to speed quicker but dont want to affect the little wake that i do have. Thanks for any info.

The boats that I've cruised around on that have whale tails still produce a considerable wake...not sure if the wake would be bigger without but you will still have a wake I can promise you that much.

I've been telling my buddy that it would be good to run his boat w/out the whale tail to see how it affects performance but he hasn't tried yet.

Do you want the wake for skiing or tubing?

I'm confused you are saying whale fins?? If you mean a hydrofoil which is also known as a whale tail, then no it will not affect your wake. If you are referring to trim tabs then yes, they normally will make your wake washy and soft.

Thanks for the input sorry I wasn't clear on the corect name of the whale tail thought everyone would get the drift on what i was talking about.
Does anyone run the " whale tail" and does it work good for plaining the boat out fast?

I have a whale tail on my boat. I'm pretty happy with it, although I've read here on iBoats that it's not as good as trim tabs for getting on plane quicker.

I can't really comment on what it's like to wake board behind it on my boat, since I haven't yet gotten up on one (yet!) but when I churn it up for tubing I'm surprised at how big a wake I can make. Of course I have an old, heavy in the rear IO working for me.
