stator wiring

i have a 88 johnson gt150 and i was wondering if it matters if you reversed the wires on the stator will that make any difference. I bought a cdi stator and it doesn't have the gray stripe on the one wire, but i matched the harness lengths up so i assume its right. Thanks

i would not think it would, since the stator puts out AC current.

thats what i figured but thought i would double check, the motor runs fine.
