I recently purchased a boat with a 1992 johnson 140 that needed a lower unit. Took it to the local boat mechanic and he put a refurbished lower unit on it along with a trim motor. I put the boat in the water it started fine and idled with no problems through the no wake zone. When i went to plane out it started to climb out of the hole when the motor reved up a bit and went no where. I thought it was a spun hub on the prop, took it out put another prop on, put it back in and did the same thing. The motor sounded fine and i didnt notice any banging. took it back to the mechanic and after a month later still not fixed or out fishing.
Any help would be appreciated

Welcome to iboats.
You need to do a basic health check on your motor to begin with.
Compression,
Spark,
Fuel delivery,
Plug condition.

Did you get the water pump serviced with your replacement lower unit ??

Post your results for everyone to review.

Could well be.
disgruntled boater, go make some noise at the mechanic's place. It has been too much of a wait.
