Default repairing wooden transom on aluminum boat with fabricated aluminum

is there a reason the transom is wood?
i own and operate a machine shop, can i fabricate a structural aluminum member to replace the wooden transom?

My buddy and I were also discussing this. Tig a honeycomb transom wall. For us, since we do not own and operated anything but a few makitas it would be too expensive. Which, I believe is the reason for wooden transoms. Was also thinking about an aluminum stringer.

Aluminum stringers are not that uncommon, ask the Starcraft club. Their's came from the factory with them though. If you had a metal brake long enough to form an aluminum stringer and did your math right I don't see why one could not be installed in a 'glass boat. There may be some issue of the aluminum failing due to hull flex as to why more people do not use it.
