I have a 1973 85hp V4 evinrude. I have had severely intermittant performance. after finding that one cylinder is not firing at all, there is also another cylinder going in and out . I would like to test the coils and the power pack, but the manual tells me i need a neon tester (which i do not have) and does not tell me the function of it and what it looks for. I assume it detects voltage, however is there any way i can use a multimeter in its place???
