All,
New to the whole boating thing. I have a 25hp Envinrude on my boston whaler. I've had this working this summer and the other day we were out and it start running rough and simply quit. Would not start again so paddled back to shore (wow what a pain). I've got it back in the driveway now. I had it started once again and was pumping water, but stalled out again very quickly. I've had no luck having it start since.

Any thoughts as to what I should start to look at would be awesome. It seems like it's not getting any spark, but I'm a little confused how that would happen all of a sudden and then start one additional time later. I took the plug out and reconnected it to the wire and held it on a bolt that did not have any paint on it, but nothing. Not positive whether I had a good ground or not either though.

Any help would be great. Not overly mechanical, but for something 31 years old would like to figure it out myself if possible.

Thanks everyone in advance for your help.

year of motor?

not running? get a spark tester and first start checking for spark with tester.Pulling it out and grounding it isnt really ideal. then move from there. sounds more like its flooding out by what youve described.
