1986 Mercury 35 hp stalls in gear

I've had the carb and fuel pump rebuilt. It has good compression. With idle rpms set correct it will stall when put gear. If I raise the nuetral idle it does not stall. It runs good when I throttle up. Any ideas?

is your idle screw set correctly? screw in untill seat then back out 1 to 1 and a half turns
