Hi I purchased a Wellcraft with a Volvo 230A Penta I/O, it had not been used for 3 -4 seasons. The previos owner had removed the water pump impeller, but it had a crack so installed a new Volvo 875575 inpeller kit. I put the boat in the water and it goes well over the center mark almost to 250 in the gray area on the gauge at idle @ 1000 rpm through a channel but temp drops to over center line at 3000rpm or so. When I got back at blew some antifreeze out of the cap.
Please help, any advice is appriciated!

Re: Volvo 230A Overheating

Welcome.

Go to this link,
type in 230a in the "engine type" box, hit enter

http://www.volvo.com/volvopenta/global/en-gb/marine_leisure_engines/parts_service/publication_search/publication_search.htm

Now go back and type in AQ131 will give you a choice of model a - d I suppose.

Lool through those and you will find a bunch of info and help you understand how it works.

That boat should run at 180 to 190 I believe. It should say in one of those PDF's I linked you too.

Good Luck!!
