Changing gear case oil retaier seals

Does the propeller shaft bearing housing need to be removed to change the oil retainer seals. If so, does it pull out using the two threaded holes on it. I was able to get the outer seal off, but can not get the inner seal off.

pretty risky to try and change the seals with the housing still attached. Its an invitation to scratching the prop shaft seal surface. Can't advise you any further, as I have no idea what you are working on......

dealer has special tool to remove seal, without removing housing, looks like a pipe with reverse threads. You could use a small slide hammer with 2 small hooks.
