Year: 2000 200hp EFI - Trying to troubleshoot a starting problem with this engine. Boat is configured with two batteries (brand new-both 500CCA) and battery switch. Two issues: cannot start the engine with battery #2 until the throttle is placed in its "warm-up position". After placing throttle in warmup and after some longer cranks of the starter the engine will start. Same thing happens when the battery switch is switched to battery #1, but the starter has a shorter cranking time (easier start) and the engine will start. Never used to have this problem as the engine would start easily with one battery and didn't have to use the warmup position. Since these symptoms started the same issue now occurs with the battery switch in the "both" position....having to place the throttle in warmup to start the engine. Again, both batteries are brand new, have checked the battery cables & battery switch and by-passed the battery switch by running battery cables directly to the engine. Any ideas where to go next? Keep in mind the engine does start but only when the throttle is placed in warm-up...even when engine is warm.
