mercruiser4.3 engine fault

We have a mercruiser4.3 v6 1992 in a bayliner. It is running on only one bank of 3 cylinders. I'm going to do a compression test tomorrow, assuming it is OK, what else could the problem be? All 6 spark plugs are sparking OK. Thanks.

Did this just suddenly happen or was the engine work on then it wouldn't run right?

It was running fine a week ago, then when we took it out yesterday it was like it is now.Also what sort of compression figures should I be looking for. Thanks again.
