Tilt and trim indicator gauge

When pulling out of the lake last week and raising my lower unit, the trim gauge suddenly flickered a few times and then shot all the way to the full up position. It now will not move no matter what the position of the lower unit is. Where should I look first to diagnose what the problem is? It is a 94 Rinker 7.4 with a Bravo II drive. Thanks.

First things first is the sender still intact, wires broke or loose plug, arm broke, return spring gone. I'm not familiar with your set up but basics are the same for all.

Ayuh,... The sender,+ it's wiring at the Transom....It's screwed to the side of the gimbel ring...
