I have a question regarding a boat I am putting together. It will be powered by a 77 Mercury 115 hp outboard motor without a conventional alternator. It has a stator in the flywheel and a voltage rectifier that it uses to charge/maintain a battery while it is running. From what I have read, this system is limited in the amout of amperage it can produce and keeping up with a bunch of electronics can be an issue. My plan for the boat is to have the usual bow and stern lights, powered tilt/trim, cd/radio and a GPS. It might also have a depth gauge. Will the charging system in the outboard be able to maintain charge with these things operating? I am considering installing 2 batteries, one for the engine and a secondary for the accessories. Is this a good idea? Will the motor be able to handle this? Thanks.

Yes, you shouldn't have any problems with a good battery and the charging system working properly.
